I've been reading a book entitled, "Your Money, Your Man." The author suggests protecting yourself legally in the event that you cohabitat with your loved one. Has anyone on this board ever done this and would you recommend it?

I've been living with my boyfriend for a year and, quite honestly, we don't talk about our financial situation. I know he has a lot of debt and he knows I don't - end of story. I help pay some expenses since it's his house, but we have no joint anything. I'm curious how I could protect myself other than to keep all my account numbers, etc. private. What does the book say?
