Preparing for a Dental Emergency Nearly every household has a first aid kit filled with bandages, antiseptic, ointments and the like, but how many people plan ahead for dental emergencies? According to a recent survey by Majestic Drug Company, although one in six Americans had a dental emergency during the past 12 months, most were not prepared to deal with the problem.
"You keep medical supplies on hand for cuts and bruises, but what about your teeth? It's important to be prepared for a dental emergency in case one happens, especially if the emergency occurs on a weekend or holiday when your dentist isn't available," says Dr. Brian Gold, a dentist who practices in Monticello.
While a dental first aid kit can never replace the care of a dentist, it can ease the pain and discomfort until you can get to the dentist. The following should be kept on hand for a dental emergency and placed in a convenient container for easy access:
*A dental pain reliever that contains benzocaine or oil of cloves such as Orajel.
* Ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) or Tylenol to ease the pain from the affected tooth.
* Temporary dental cement, which can be used to replace a filling or secure a crown.
* A denture repair product for anyone with dentures. * Tweezers and gauze.
Remember, emergency dental solutions are temporary. Make sure to seek professional assistance from your dentist as soon as possible. Log onto www.MajesticDrug.com for imformation.

Chick Flick Movie Review: Nights in the Rodanthe
When Dr. Paul Flanner (Richard Gere) decides to escape to a sleepy North Carolina bed and breakfast to escape the mistakes of his past, he doesn?t plan on finding love. But when he meets Adrienne Eillis (Diane Lane) ? a separated mom filling in for the inn?s owner while contemplating reconciliation with her hubby ? he learns to appreciate life for the journey it is, not just the destination. Based on the Nicholas Spark?s novel of the same name, Nights in the Rodanthe is well-worth adding to your queues.
